First IFTTA North-American Conference of Tourism and Travel Law
The First North-American Conference of Tourism and Travel Law was held in Cancun, Mexico from October 30th-31st, 2008. The Conference brought together delegates from the USA, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico and other Latin American countries to discuss North American Travel Law Issues.

As the only Australian legal representative selected, Barrie Goldsmith was invited to speak on the
"Legal mark of Travel, Hospitality and Tourism in Australia", and combined his Spanish language skills with his knowledge of travel and tourism law. The presentation encompassed a variety of issues including the evolution of legislation in the area of Australian travel and tourism.

The 2008 Hospitality Law Conference
From February 9-11, Barrie was a keynote speaker at the 2008 Hospitality Law Conference held in Houston, Texas. The conference covered the latest trends and issues in hospitality law including franchising, legislation, premises liability, and changes in employment and management contracts.
